Sony Alpha DSLR A-560 – One of the Best Entry to Mid Level Cameras
Tired of just a Point-N-Shoot camera? Needing a good entry to mid level DSLR camera that you can grow with for years to come? I have found the Sony Alpha DSLR A-560 with 14.2 Megapixels fits the bill very nicely. With its auto features, it’s as easy to use as a point-n-shoot camera, while you learn how to use all the special features and settings from its onboard help menus. The A-560 camera will take around 550 photos with its 3 inch LCD live display on, which also tilts 90 degrees up or down, on its fully charged Litium battery pack, or about 1000 photos if you are just using the viewfinder. In either case, that is a lot of photos on one battery charge.
One of the nicest features is the camera’s fast and continuous auto focus. It can scans up to fifteen points to provide quick and accurate focusing. To enhance that auto focus you can set it to recognize faces for sharp clear group portraits. To improve on this unique face recognition feature, it can also recognize smiles. So when there are several in a photo and there is just one in the group, who won’t smile when you want them to, you can turn the smile recognition on and indicate which face to recognize. Then tell everyone to smile, and hold it, and when that one does smiles, the camera will recognize that individual smile and will quickly take the picture.
Sony’s A-560 camera also has a Panorama Sweep mode which allows you to hold the Shutter Release Button down and pan from the Left to the Right to take a panorama picture. It’s great for taking pictures of large groups or wide scenic pictures like the Grand Teton Mountain Range or parts of the Grand Canyon. This feature also doesn’t just take 2-D pictures, but it records separate Left-Eye and Right Eye views which makes your picture come alive with full HD 3-D.
This camera also comes with an incredible Stable Shot feature. You know how so many of your point-n-shoot pictures come out blurred, even though you know you and your subject did not move. It’s because so many people, not thinking, snap their shots. When you snap that shutter release button it jars the camera just as you’re taking the picture. Take your time and learn to squeeze that shutter release button. But to help take out any of those jars, shakes or bumps, the A-560 camera has a Stable Shot program built into the camera’s processor to sharpen up some of those slightly blurred photos. Now, between squeezing that shutter release button and the Stable Shot processor, you will get many more perfect photos.
Sony’s A-560 camera can also take wonderful High Definition (HD) Video clips. If you shoot your videos with the Stable Shot feature on and you have a steady hand, you should get great videos with a little practice. With Stable Shot on, you can shoot video clips for about 10 minute. Or if you have a very steady hand and shoot without Stable Shot, you can shoot for about 24 minutes. With the onboard processor, processing almost 30 frames per second, it has a tendency to heat up. This is why there is a time limit on how long you can shoot video clips. Also, the auto focus is not available while shooting videos, so you will need to manually adjust the focus. This is really quite easy, with your right hand on the camera grip and your left hand on the lens focus ring. That’s it. Then of course home movies just would not be home movies without sound, so the A-560 camera has two tiny Stereo Microphones mounted just in front of the flash hot-shoe. It also has a 3.5mm Stereo Microphone Jack which is provided for an external Stereo Microphone if needed.
An interesting side note; The Sony Alpha A-560 camera body’s lens mount is compatible with Minolta lenses. If you have used Minolta cameras in the past, you can use those lenses on the A-560 camera, as well as their filters. Or if you wish to purchase another type of lens or filter for your Sony A-560 camera, you can purchase an older Minolta lenses and filters at a much reduced cost. Big Plus.
