Canon Portrait Lens On a Budget – How To Choose A Portrait Lens

About the Author
I love photography and all things related to it. Cameras, camera gear, and image editing software fascinate me, so I am either buying the newest piece of equipment (or software) or researching my next purchase.
Lucky for you, there is a single page with some excellent Canon portrait lenses listed. They are chosen specifically for the folks who are looking for a lens that qualifies for that purpose, and they include professional and budget models. You can find this list at http://www.canoneoslenses.org/canon-portrait-lenses/.

Getting a good portrait lens is not difficult, but knowing which ones qualify is important. Before you go out and make a purchase, you should take a look into your camera bag to see if you may have a Canon portrait lens in there cleverly disguised as.. let’s say a Macro lens or maybe a sports action lens.
The first issue is to determine what the qualifications of a good Canon portrait lens actually are. But in the process, keep in mind that you want to save money.
I hope this does not burst your bubble. I mean, photographers are kind of like fishermen and golfers. We are always under the impression that we need the next new camera or lens that comes out. Or, like my mother-in-law used to say, “If you don’t have it, you need it.” While the grass may be greener on the other side of the fence where your neighbor has a Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 portrait lens that she paid $1000 for, it’s possible that you can get by with something that you either already own or that costs just a tad bit less.
OK, real quick, the qualifications:
1. Image quality – this has to be really good. You do not want a lens that has poor image quality. After all, you will be shooting people, and most people are very vain about their appearance. It’s not like taking a picture of a monkey or bear at the zoo. Those animals don’t care what their picture looks like.
To find out whether the lens in question will qualify as a Canon portrait lens with respect to image quality, check some expert sites. But keep in mind that these guys are going to be very technical. You might just want to go to the Amazon or B & H Photo website and check user reviews. In that case, look for reviews from advanced amateurs or professionals. They will also be fairly reliable.
2. Focal length – Portraits can be taken with a lens that is as short as 50mm or as long as 300mm. Some of the pros use the extra long length to get the great bokeh, but normal portrait shooters use a lens of about 85mm to 135mm. The good news is that if you have an entry-level or mid-level digital SLR, you have what is known as a crop factor, which simply means that your camera multiplies the focal length of the lens by either 1.5 or 1.6 depending on the make of the camera. So if you have a 100mm lens, multiply it by the crop factor of, say 1.6, and you have an effective focal length of 160mm. And a 50mm lens becomes an effective focal length of 85mm. Of course, the shorter the focal length, the closer you will be to your subject. That’s why a wide angle lens of 28mm will not be your best bet for a portrait lens.
3. Aperture – The aperture is really important. The wider the aperture, the better your chances for getting the nice blurry background that is desirable in this type of photography. You want a minimum of f/4.0 for longer length lenses, such as a 180mm lens, and at least an f/2.8 for the shorter lenses, such as 50mm. The larger the aperture, the better your background will be. But you also need a good sharp focus on the eyes because there is a very shallow depth of field with the wider apertures.
Generally, single focal length lenses are preferred for portraits, but that is not a hard and fast rule. Some photographers use their Canon 70-200mm lens for this and are very happy with it.
OK, so there is a wide range of possibilities here. Going back to the first suggestion, look into your camera bag and see which, if any, of your current lenses fit the qualifications. If you still need to purchase a Canon portrait lens, proceed with patience. Getting a lens that can do two or three types of images is also a viable option.
One last thing. Third party lenses, like Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina are also great ways to save a few bucks. There are some excellent lenses made by these manufacturers, but make sure you check what the experts and others who have used them say in forums and online comment areas.

Wedding photography, an important element of every wedding, helps the family cherish the wonderful movements through their life. Wedding is a very special movement of the couple’s lifetime gets to stay live forever with wonderful photographer with family and friends. Only the best of best wedding photographer can bring life and sole to this wonderful wedding photography. Hence, selecting a right photographer is very important.
Most wedding photographers offer different packages so you can choose what works for you and what you’d like. Wedding photographers have packages that vary from simple to sophisticated. Almost many photography packages come with a DVD of your images. Most importantly, you will be able to have a copy of every single photograph that was taken and you have a freedom to do edit them to add your personal touch.
In the modern wedding photographic approach, the goal is to make the wedding couple look their best. This approach requires a great deal of artistic talent behind the camera to produce a unique photo.
One best thing about these albums is that photographers can add digital effects such as vignette, soft focus, aperture, shutter speed to the digital presentation of the photographs. Aperture controls the amount of area exposed to light. Shutter Speed controls the amount of time light to let in. A vignette effect makes a nice artistic wedding photography effect. It draws the viewer into the photograph.
Choosing the best photographers and the most romantic location will be the perfect solution for a memorable Wedding photography sessions on your special day. Regardless of the venue you have chosen for your special day, they will capture the mood of your wedding day beautifully. In UK Oxford, Bicester and Abington have a few beautiful wedding spots that are within less than an hour from London. Wedding photographers should capture this wonderful day without disturbing you and your family and friends who have come to share the joy of your precious day.

Nikon coolpix l110 is a neat little camera, What is impressive is the 15x zoom NIKKOR lens with 28mm wide-angle capability (35mm format equivalent) with 12.1 mega pixels also gives you ample file size to make huge enlargements or lots of room for cropping.
another feature that I really like is the smart portrait setting – the camera will automatically shoot the pic when it detects a smile. This feature helped me get some of the cutest photos of our baby.
nikkon l110 camera is also equipped with Long battery life using the supplied AA-size lithium (FR6/L91) batteries can shoot approximately 840 still images
some people are dissapointed that there aren’t any manual settings, but the many preset features are really good for just about all conditions.
The macro feature on this camera is awesome. You can get as close as .4 inches from your subject and this is fantastic if you are into macro photography.
I also really like the feature “Movie shooting at HD 720p for high-definition images with stereo sound” that I can record HD video, even indoors in low light it’s not really that bad when played on a HD TV. Outdoors in natural light it is pretty impressive. However, its not intended to replace a stand alone video camera so don’t expect Hollywood results.
if you’re looking for digital camera with high quality pictures for the price. and can be easily slipped into your handbag whilst on vacation,Spend the extra money and get this NIKON Coolpix L110 Camera.

Photobucket is a popular website where you can store and share your photos and videos. A free account gives you up to 500 MB of storage space for images and video clips, with a maximum bandwidth of 10 GB a month.
If you need more storage, a Pro Account gives you 25 GB of space for $24.95 a year.
Photobucket also makes it very easy to share or embed your photos on other sites, such as your MySpace or Facebook accounts, Blogger blog or any other website. Photobucket generates a link code for each photo.
It’s easy to upload photos into Photobucket.
1. Log into your Photobucket account, or, of you haven’t done so yet, register for an account.
2. Hover your cursor over the “My Albums” tab then click on “My Albums & Upload.”
3. On the left-most column, you’ll find an Albums box. Use this box to create a new album for the photo you’d like to upload. Or, choose an existing album where you’d like the photo to be uploaded.
4. Click the “Upload images & videos” button
5. Select the photo you want to upload. You can upload either from your computer, another website, mobile phone or email.
6. Wait for the photo to upload. Afterwards, enter the title, description and tags for your picture. In the same screen, you can share the photo on MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, email and other sites.
7. Finally, click either “Return to album” or “Add tags to all albums.”
As you can see, it’s pretty easy. Photobucket even lets you share your pictures through printed products, slideshows, scrapbooks and online galleries.
Before you do, however, make sure your digital photos are worthy of sharing. If you are more curious to learn more about Digital Photography I will strongly recommend you to checkout the copy of “Shoot Digital Pics Like the Pros.“ It’s free.
Also you can get various Digital Photography Tutorials from my site.

Photographing more than one individual can be a real demanding encounter. You want to get the right shot where everyone is looking their most fitting. The more people in the shot the higher the difficulty of getting that precise shot. Whether it be someone blinking or moving their head the shot can be spoilt very easily.
The first challenge is to arrange the group into a decent composition. If you’ve ever participated in a wedding, you know this drill.
Emphasize to everyone in the shot that they need to have a clear view of the camera. If they can’t see the camera, then the camera won’t be able to see them. I know that it sounds simple or possibly even stupid, but people do have to be told this.
Next, position people as close as possible. Group shot participants tend to stand too far apart. That might look OK in real life, but the photographic equipment accentuates the interval between people and the result looks unnatural. Plus, you can’t afford to have this shot span as wide as a football sporting venue, or you’ll never see people’s faces unless you increase the image to poster size.
Bear in mind to take lots of shots for large groups, a minimum of five frames being a common rule. This gives you a chance to defeat blinking eyes, abrupt head turns, sour smiles, and sudden gusts of wind ruining your pictures. Luckily in this day and age with with digital cameras, you can shoot until your heart is content (or you memory card fills up) and if you don’t like any photos, delete the photos instantly. Don’t assume every photo you take to be on the money. It doesn’t work that way, not even for specialist photographers.
Before pressing the shutter button, quickly scan the group looking for little annoyances that will drive you wild later. Crooked ties, sloppy hair, and turned up shirt collars will make you insane during post production. Finally, work quickly. You’re not Steven Spielberg shooting Star Wars, so don’t act like it. People get unwilling to wait when posing for photos – think if you were were in their position. Keep things moving for the sake of your subjects (and for your own tired feet).
With hope you will have some decent shots when you go through them later at home, and I’m sure the people that you took the photos of will be grateful for the extra few seconds or extra shots that you took at the time. In a lot of instances you will not get another chance to take those photos again. And if it was a wedding, I’m sure the bride and groom would not be too happy with photos of people with closed eyes or not looking at the camera.

Pentax K-7 or K-5 – What About The Newest Pentax DSLR
By: Wayne Rasku
About the Author
I love photography and all things related to it. Cameras, camera gear, and image editing software fascinate me, so I am either buying the newest piece of equipment (or software) or researching my next purchase.
With regard to the Pentax DSLR cameras, one of these two cameras is among the highest rated digital SLRs on-line. To come across out which one, and to see which DSLR can claim the highest rating, go to http://hubpages.com/hub/Top-10-DSLR-Cameras-By-Popularity.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Pentax K-7 or K-5 – What About The Newest Pentax DSLR
GA_googleFillSlot(“Bellow_Embed_Code”);
if( ! $.cookie(“screen_name”)){$(‘#banner_signup_wide’).css(‘display’, ‘block’);}
Pentax is moving backwards when the remaining digital SLR kingdom is going forward. The newest edition of Pentax mid-level DSLR is the K-5; the elder version is the Pentax K-7. It doesn’t make sense . Why isn’t it a higher number than the previous 1? Go figure.
Far more important than the name are the upgrades. Is this brand new camera worthy of your interest? And, by the way, which one has the higher user rating? Far more on that later.
Pentax is declaring that the K-5 is really a “refinement” of the K-7. We normally think of this as upgrade. Another Pentax anomaly. Whatever.
The upgrades… OK, refinements, are in some predicted areas.
1st, the CMOS sensor has improved from 14.6-megapixels to 16.3-megapixels.
There is an boost in the continuous shooting rate from 5.2 frames per second to 7 frames per second.
ISO has been refined to go all the way up to 51,200 instead of a paltry 6400.
There has also been an increase from the 12-bit RAW bit depth to 14-bit.
Video recording has also been improved to full 1920x1080p at 25 fps as opposed to 1536x1024p (they were the only ones with that size video which was rather unusual).??
A lot of cameras are including in-camera HDR now. But the Pentax men and women have somehow added automatic image alignment so that you’ll be able to shoot while hand-holding your camera.
There are other advantages that are prevalent to both cameras that are well worth mentioning.
* Having a camera that is weather resistant is critical when you are out inside the elements. The Pentax models both sport a magnesium alloy body over a stainless steel frame, and they are weather-sealed for that vital protection. So go ahead and jump into the snow or surf with either.
* Another good feature of Pentax DSLRs is the image stabilization that’s built into the body as opposed to being dependent upon the lens IS.
* Also, each lens made for a Pentax SLR is compatible with the newest versions. This is really a substantial benefit for those who are old Pentax owners.
The Pentax folks have not entered into the advertising competitions to promote their cameras. Rather they rely on quality and user satisfaction for product promotion.

The Nikon D3S was launched in October 2009. It stands on the shoulders of the D3, considered a giant in its field when launched back in August 2007. Three years is a long time in the digital camera market and the D3S is a welcome replacement to supersede the D3. It is targeted toward professionals, plainly evident in its hefty price tag.
The camera has a three inch, 921,000-dot video graphics array (VGA), liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor. This super-dense calibration delivers incredible color integrity. With this monitor it really is a case of what you see is what you get.
A RAW image shot by a Nikon digital is saved as a NEF file. In common with all RAW image file types, before a NEF file can be manipulated (emailed, saved on to a computer disk, posted to the web, and so on) it must first be opened in an imaging program, such as Adobe Camera RAW, and converted to a fine image format such as TIFF (tagged image file format) or JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group standard). The Adobe Camera RAW is a RAW conversion and editing software that can be purchased as part of the Adobe Photoshop CS3 product.
The batteries are lithium-ion. The battery-charger allows two batteries to be charged simultaneously. It shoots about 4,200 images on one battery charge.
The D3S also comes with three separate crop modes, namely, 1.2x and 5.4x and the DX. All three modes display in the viewfinder. They allow the user to decrease the image file size as well as achieve different creative effects. The DXmode allows the user to team the unit up with non-FX lenses.
In conclusion, the Nikon D3S is fitted with dual CF card slots and has overflow, backup plus copy options. Some of its smaller improvements include a soft-touch AF-On button and a new, dedicated live view button. It is a little (about 60 grams) lighter and more expensive than its successor, but a great performer. The D3S teams up will with the new 70-200mm VR II lens.

If your interest is in upgrading from a point and shoot camera or from an older Nikon entry level model, the D3100 is in the correct category for your consideration.
It is an upgrade from the D3000, The Nikon developers have been keenly listening to demands from photographers about needed changes. The newest features that have been upgraded or added since the D3000 are significant.
First of all, you can now record video. And that’s not just video, it’s high quality HD video with full time auto-focus and stereo sound. It was not offered within the previous model.
There’s also now 1 touch Live View. This is the most effective thing since baked bread to some folks. No doubt, it is convenient.

Taking pictures of the places that you go to is one way that you can bring the memories with you as you go back home. Pictures and even videos are great reminders of the wonderful experiences that you have had. These pictures need to have great quality so that you will be able to appreciate them every time. A camera must be always with you wherever you go so that you can have a little remembrance of your escapades. But you have to realize that in using a camera, you need to have the accessories too. Lenses, tripod and bags are some of the most important that you need to have.
LENSES
Lenses must be used carefully so that the pictures will have good results. Take a look at at dive cameras too. The first thing that you need to do here is to determine what type of photography you want to do. Some may like to take pictures of sporting events, street scenes, landscape, portrait and a lot more. The lens that you will use depends on the subject that you have. A lens that is 300 or 400 mm long is more appropriate for subjects that are quite far like during sports events. The shorter ones like a 90 mm lens will be good for street scenes and portrait.
If you are using a short lens, you need to stand near to your subject. You do the opposite with the long lens camera. You have to remember that you can also zoom in the lens to change the focal point. A lens is one important accessory for every camera. Just make sure that you will be able to choose one that will be more appropriate for your type of photography.
TRIPOD
The tripod supports your camera while you are taking pictures. You have to choose the tripod that is tall enough and you need not to adjust the center column all the time. There are three other legs that you will see in the tripod aside from the center column. It is best that all of these three legs and the center column support the camera. These will ensure that the camera will be in a stable state as you take good quality pictures.
BAG
Bags will contain all the other things that you need for your camera. You can put a lot of things inside the bag. Choose a bag that you can use conveniently. Determine your need so that you will be able to choose the one. If you travel a lot and you bring a lot of camera accessories, you need to choose big bags. These bags come in different forms and designs. You may use belt bags and even back pack. It all depends on your need and preference of the bag.
A camera will help capture the moments that you can reminisce forever. It will be fun of you can have underwater video camera. This is a good way that you can remember all the events and the places that you have been to. It is very important that you only buy the needed accessories for the camera. Keep the tips in mind for you to have a guide on the accessories that you will choose.

Functional, practical or purely aesthetic, photography lies somewhere between science and art. Many businesses depend on photography and the entire written media is supported by photo materials of events. In fact, people have got used to seeing pictures for the columns they read. Other than this one major application of photography, people take pictures because they like it and they can.
The beginning of photography can be traced back to the discovery of the camera obscura in the antiquity. For a long period of time, photography depended on films for the image forming device. In comparison with digital technologies, the film, as recording medium is considered obsolete. A latent image is created on the film, and then it becomes usable when processed chemically in the studio.
We can hardly mention all the uses of photography for such long lists. Pictures are used for scientific evidence, in fact, together with recorded videos, they become the main proof in support or contradiction of a certain event. There are military, archaeological, forensic, data storage and geographical applications for photography, and these are the largest and most extensively used. Identity control and personal documents require photos. Besides the wide-range usage, photography also plays an important part in entertainment, personal life and memories preservation.
The average mobile phone user takes photos with the cellular. The technology has reached such an extent that photography dominates so many intimate moments in our lives. There is no baptism or wedding without photo shooting and video recording. Or, consider for instance traveling, we will inevitably take at least one camera with us on our journey.
As for the artistic dimension of photography, there is hardly anything commercial about it. So many art galleries now house photography exhibitions worldwide. The camera thus captures emotions, gives a unique touch to reunions, celebrations and ceremonies, making things look much brighter when seen in retrospect. Artistic photos contradict everything that is commercial or practical: they have not direct functionality other than to delight and send a message to the viewer’s heart.
