My first question is always what their motivation is as a wedding photographer. Some will reply them to heard from somebody it is easy money, or that they got an awesome camera that takes great photos or that they would like to make some money quietly etc. While it is accurate that wedding photography is usually a very profitable business achieving success in the wedding industry is not only just a matter of receiving a camera and start taking pictures. Wedding photography involves inspired talent, human sense, complete mastery of final techniques, business knowledge, and a strong need to learn and deliver the top to the wedding pair.

Here I have summarized some points i always believe will guide beginner wedding photographers:

1. Learn photography before anything. A wedding photographer is expected to become master of the hobby. You will be responsible for capturing people’s most important life moments. The wedding day seriously isn’t the place to study photography.

2. Just because you got a new camera it does not automatically cause you to an effective and trustworthy photographer. Photography goes beyond great toys and gadgets. Learn composition and produce an unique artistic vision. Some of the great photographs of them all were taken with guide cameras.

3. Master the digital workflow, including color management, digital image processing, file management and image correction and enhancement.

4. Learn to love photography more than anything else. Don’t come to the wedding ceremony photography field with just dreams of making money. It is true that there are many successful wedding photographers that make lots of money. However according to the particular Professional Photographers of America the common photographer in America can make about $ 24, 000 a year.

A Close Look At The Sigma 70mm Macro

The Sigma 70mm Macro is a lens that is suitable for most cameras. I really like it because it is very easy to use and doesn’t require too big of an investment. Other lenses don’t offer so much quality, but they are still very expensive. With this lens, you get nothing but quality photos and easy picture taking. When you compare this lens to other lenses from Sigma, the 70mm Macro is really one of the best.

What’s different about the Sigma 70mm Macro is that it is very good at taking pictures of objects that we humans don’t usually see. Take a bug for example; this lens is perfect for taking pictures of those things. Everything from insects, to hidden objects, to things far away, this lens is what it mainly goes after. It is able to do things like liven up the small objects, make them look bigger, and even supersize small objects so they look lifelike. I like this feature because I enjoy taking pictures of smaller objects, as it can be very fun and enjoying seeing small objects come to life in a new way. It is the special macro aperture that does all of this and it is only this lens that offers this feature.

Aside from its super competitive features, the price of the lens is another aspect that could draw most people close to it. It costs just more than half a grand and it comes with many extra accessories. Taking pictures of small objects is what a lot of people nowadays try to do. Unfortunately, the costs of these lenses and cameras are growing and growing every single day. So to come across a lens like the Sigma 70mm Macro, where it doesn’t even come close to a fortune, makes it a no brainer for most people.

Just like everything in this world, it isn’t perfect and there are still plenty of small aspects that could be more different. Take the aperture for example; it isn’t able to take pictures of wider scenery. So if I wanted to take pictures of a building, it wouldn’t be as nice as the other Sigma lenses that are more focused on this area. The best thing to do is to get this camera and use it for your smaller projects, but when it’s time to take big pictures of big places, go and use a different lens. Nonetheless, despite this lens not being perfect, the slight mishap is far from how beautiful the pictures you can take.

The Sigma 70mm Macro is one very good lens and despite the small imperfection, it still stands to be one of the best lenses available. It’s really easy to use and it doesn’t even cost that much. You can get it for slightly more than half a grand and it let’s you take quality photos without spending too much money. So if the lens you are in need of is one that lets you zoom and take photos of smaller objects, this is very good for those types of photos.

Still searching for the perfect lens?

I know finding the perfect lens for your photography needs can be a tedious and arduous process.

You can easily spend hours or even days searching for that perfect lens and end up with no result.

What is even worse, you can buy the wrong lens and end up wasting a lot of money in the end.

That is why I created this Sigma 70mm Macro lens review to help you out.

If you don’t think this is the right lens for you, check out my Sigma 50mm Macro lens review for an alternative.

Which to Choose? The Canon EOS Rebel T2i Vs The Canon EOS Rebel T3i

If you’re into photography, you’re familiar with how challenging it can sometimes be to make a crucial equipment decision. With the Canon Rebel series now offering two compelling products, buyers and potential customers are weighing pros, cons, prices, features and finding themselves a bit unsure about which model to purchase. Well this article will do its best to assist you, provide information, insight, and hopefully make the decision making process just a little less…stressful.

Round 1: The Price Tag

According to Amazon.com, the Canon Revel T2i is valued at about $677 and you can purchase it directly from their web site at this price. The newer, naturally more expensive model, the Tt3i is on at its full/standard retail-selling price of $799.99-or nearly $800.

What does this mean to you? Well if you’re a novice in the field, there’s no need to splurge when you can obtain a comparably proficient item in the Canon T2i. If you want to give it a test drive or simply don’t feel comfortable paying that much money, you may able to get a nice deal on a pre-owned model of either on auction sites like eBay.com.

Round 2: Resolution

Both of these models boast and impressive revolution, especially relative to the 15.1 megapixels of the original t1i model (which in the grand scheme of things ranks fairly high.) But the Canon T3i and the Canon T2i both exceed the mark with 18 megapixels apiece. Guess it’s wash in that department.

Round 3: The Flash

The Canon T3i is victorious when it comes to flash. The model comes equipped with a pop-up flash mechanism that its predecessor would be benefited from immensely.

Round 4: The Video

The Canon T2i features some pretty nice video amenities, such as impressive quality and a more professional rate of frame. However, the Canon T3i offers similar specifications, with 30 frames per second. This does trump its predecessor, which works a not too shabby 24 frames per second. In this field, with the newer model comes better results, and the Canon Rebel t3i takes this cake.

Also-the T3i provides an impressive LCD display for video capturing that brings a little bit more to the table.

Who wins this one?

Well like most product comparisons, the answer is anything but cut and dry/black and white/A or B. The better option depends on your particular needs and circumstances. If you want a powerful and inexpensive solution that meets your budget and introductory needs, get an older model with competitive specs in the Canon Rebel T2i. If you need the best of the best with wireless flash control and other advances features, perhaps the Canon Rebel T3i is is more your speed. It’s all about your use, preferences, and personal interests, after all!

Why Consider Using a Nikon Digital Camera?

I remember when digital cameras started to appear. They were definitely too expensive,a little bit unreliable and so appeared rather gimmicky. Then I realized that Kodak, amongst the longest founded camera producers was in fact developing them and then I acknowledged they were the thing of the future and here to stay. Over recent times, digital photography has really improved, having over taken film cameras in both the compact and Slr camera marketplaces. Whether you’re a specialist photographer, photo journalist or only taking snaps of family or friends, then at this moment people are likely to be using a digital camera.

Over this time prices have lowered spectacularly guaranteeing that a decent digital camera can be within reach of countless hobbyists; whilst at the same time, home PC systems along with image quality ink jet printers became common, completing the computer hardware required to edit and furthermore print your own photos. You aren’t able to over emphasise the advantage of promptly being in the position to review the image and when necessary delete and simply retake it. No longer are you forced to purchase film after which you can carry it to a shop or mail it away for processing. Digital images can be modified and shared on-line quickly not to mention you only need to print those you pick out.

In the event someone have already got an SLR camera, subsequently the purchase of a digital body is the only thing that ought to be required because thoughtful choice will make sure that your current lenses are interchangeable. Nikon has got a wonderful collection of digital SLR cameras and I would draw your interest to all these 3. All are compatible with lots of Nikkor lenses.

The Nikon D3100 is an entry level DSLR camera that will go well with people going upwards from a compact; the just recently unveiled D5100 is an outstanding mid-range DSLR supplying wonderful performance; while the most state-of-the-art of the three would be the “pro-sumer” Nikon D 7000.

Permit me to sum up a few of the good reasons that digital photography has become well liked plus fanatics have embraced it so warmly.

1. Absolutely no film is needed.

This is very likely the prime reason most people today would prefer to acquire digital cameras even in the event they cost a bit more when compared with a traditional film camera. Film in addition to processing charges mount up so a digital camera may well be even more economical over time. Never again worry about the film running out plus dreaming you’d decide to put an extra in your pouch or pocket. Large memory cards are quite low priced to buy and space may be freed up by deleting images no longer needed.

2. Instant review facility, modify, print or possibly erase your self.

Immediate review means that if you find yourself definitely not satisfied with the way an image has come out, you can easily retake it promptly or maybe modify it prior to sharing or publishing. Plus, you will only print out those photographs you are seriously pleased with. This unquestionably saves you and your family time, materials and cash. Many photographers even further minimise overheads by way of volume buying inks and furthermore recharging their ink jet printer ink cartridges.

Are these are ample reasons to influence you to definitely consider making the shift to digital photography?

Digital Photography Tips on How To Use Depth Of Field To Your Advantage

Article by learndigitalphotography

There is a certain way that experienced photographers take such stunning pictures, portraits and photographs where the subject being shot is focused in a clear and perfect manner while the background is sort of a blur.

The following are the steps to take those amazing picture-perfect shots. The technical

First things first, it is best that the camera being used has a plate for imaging that is large. Also, a lens that is considered fast should also be used. “Fast” in photography language means a lens that has an aperture that is larger than f2.8.

When the aperture of a camera is large, the image or picture that will be produced has a depth of field that is shallow. In photography language, this basically means that the area that is behind as well as front of the subject being taken is a blur.

As much as possible, the shoulder and the head of the subject should fill the whole frame. Also, if the subject is a person, don’t forget to focus on the subject’s eyes.

The technique

Practice really does make perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect job done only once. It takes perseverance as well as patience. When shooting pictures, try to take a series of shots using a lens that has a wide opening and a stop on at least one or two.

Focus on various areas such as the ear, nose, hair using varying apertures for such. When the pictures come out, you then have many different options to choose from.

To be able to create a depth of field that is shallow, the best thing you should do is use a long lens – preferably a telephoto – and have it set on the zoom that at its maximum. Then, try to stand as close to the subject as possible.

However, for subjects that are in motion, for example a car. The camera must then be moved the same way the subject is moving. Or simply put, the subject must be followed. The best film to be used for such a shot are ISO 400 films. Also, don’t forget to set the camera at an ISO setting that is similarly fast.

The body of the camera, especially when taking such moving picture shots, must be steady. Make sure to focus on the subject as you see it through the lens of the viewfinder. Using such a technique ensures that the subject being focused on is clear and crisp while the background is a beautiful blur. Such a picture helps highlight the movement being done by the subject therefore making it seemingly jump from the picture.

Photo effects

Believe it or not, there is also an easy and stress free way to create a similar photo effect without doing the techniques mentioned. This has become possible through the magic of software. Photoshop has a “blur” function, which blurs the picture’s background in a uniform manner independently as well as authentically the way an actual photograph may be done by a technically-savvy photographer. The software blur is and looks artificial while the real blur is more organic in feel.

Fortunately or unfortunately, the technology of software is advancing so that there is a CS2 version of Photoshop that enables anyone to create a blur that is considered as “smart.” This function takes into consideration the picture’s depth of field. This basically means that the function applies a lot of blurring effects to the pixels that appears more distant and applies a lot less blurring to the pixels that appear nearer. Believe it or not, such a function is adjustable that anyone could achieve any effect desired.

All in all, depth of field is a fairly easy concept to understand especially to those serious in learning the art and craft of photography. All it takes is a lot of patience, perseverance and a heart that is willing to learn as well as a mind that is open to making mistakes and gradually correcting them along the way towards creating a picture perfect shot.

Family Portrait Ideas – Best Laid Plans

Another family photo shoot and I am clean out of family portrait ideas. Well I’m not really out, it’s just that I have done so many lately and my first instinct is to find some new ones, but my mind goes blank.

This always happens to me, I get nervous every shoot but it is a good nervous. I want every session to be different but like my balding pate, I feel like I am running thin on family portrait ideas.

My photo sessions need to be casual, relaxed, outdoors, early morning or late afternoon and I love a cloudy day so how come I turn into such a nervous wreck, researching for hours the technicalities of other peoples family portrait ideas when deep down I know what I want all along? Last night I was reading up on lighting, studio lighting! I am not sure why, probably just the nerves. I know the lighting I will be using will be natural and I will soften it up or bounce it back with my reflector and may have to use some fill in flash to eliminate those leafy shadows.

With all this angst before a shoot, I have found the use of a new venue whenever possible is the best approach for me personally to keep the photos fresh and unique. A new venue creates a whole new pallet of family portrait ideas and what fun to explore and plan the area in advance. I make a point of checking the lighting at the same time of day as to when I will be working and I walk the area to find the best backgrounds to use. I get some test shots to play with and my familiarity with the area makes me look intelligent on the day!

A nice wide aperture will blur my backgrounds and concentrate on the family faces. I have grand-kids now and I take them along for the test shots which adds to my portfolio of them whilst showing me the possibilities for the actual shoot. I start to create my own family portrait ideas for the specific shoot.

I really like this digital photography, having grown up with 35mm cameras. I can and do take as many photos as I want although I am becoming increasingly aware of a digital cameras’ lifetime and how many clicks it is composed of. A little like myself I guess. I think I have a few more clicks in me yet and the adrenalin rush will inspire me to do more so…my batteries are charged, my spare cards are pocketed and my checklist is checked and sitting with the car keys.

No matter what planning proceeds the session it usually takes its own path. All the research in the world goes out the window as suddenly nature provides its own family portrait ideas with a splash of special lighting or a tree branch enveloping your subjects in a beautiful way and you are there to capture it. I love it.

Not only does the digital camera provide convenience to photographers or those that are interested in the art but also savings to ordinary consumers.

There is no need to buy films or have the pictures developed in the darkroom or in the nearest developing center. One only need to click the camera, upload the files to a computer and print them out with a colored printer. Everything is so easy.

Of course, despite being so easy, there are things that one needs to know about digital cameras and digital photography. Here are some tips that will help you make the most out of your digital cameras and make the experience of digital photography truly memorable.

Without really studying the features that your digital camera has, how can you make the most out of it? Before using it, try to explore the different features of the gadget. Read the manual and take experimental shots. This will help you be familiar with the various parts of the camera. Doing it and trying it out will also help you remember the operations as opposed to just reading the text in the manual.

Reading the manual will also help you from pulling something that you should not be pulling. Often, gadgets like digital cameras get broken because owners do not allot any time to read the instructions in the manual especially the don’ts and the section where it teaches you how to take care of it.

Although it may seem a bit too much to always put it inside its case every time you are not using it or not putting it directly under the heat of the sun, digital cameras are delicate gadgets that need taking care of. Make sure that you always protect it and prevent it from hitting hard surfaces.
