Basic Travel Photography Tips For New Travel Photographers

Article by N Wright

You don’t want to come home from your vacation only to find that the dozens of photos you snapped during your trip are marred by red eye, glare or a lack of imagination.

Fortunately, there are several travel photography tips you can follow to make sure that you return from your trip with praiseworthy vacation photos.

Fortunately, there are several travel photography tips you can follow to guarantee top vacation photos.

Perhaps the most important travel photography tip for you to remember is the rule of thirds. There are two basic tenets to this rule: First, don’t place any of your subjects directly in the center of your shots. If you instead place your friends, family members or strangers off-center in your shots, you’ll end up with a far more interesting photo.

It’s also important to be creative. This means looking for the most interesting angles before you take a shot of a scene.

Photographers should follow this rule when shooting landscapes, too. There aren’t any people to place off-center, but there is the horizon line to worry about. Make sure to place the horizon either closer to the top or the bottom of your photo. This prevents you from simply visually cutting your photo in two.

When shooting, never forget about the position of the sun. Don’t line people up so that they end up looking directly into the sun. They’ll squint. And that doesn’t look good in a photo.

It’s best to place your subjects so that any sunlight or any other light sources hit them on their sides. This prevents both silhouettes and squinting. Such positioning also creates in interesting shadows that emphasize the personality of your subjects.

By following these travel photography tips, you’ll bring home photos from your vacation that are worthy of framing. The best news is that these tips are simple enough for even the most amateur of photographers.

Never settle for a straight-on shot when you can snap one from the top of a porch or while lying on your stomach. You never know what kind of shot you’ll get when shooting from interesting angles.

Higher-end digital cameras today tend to boast impressive technology. The best vacation photographers take advantage of this. For instance, don’t forget to use your camera’s scene mode. This setting automatically adjusts your camera’s settings so that you’ll always end up taking the best photo possible.

Don’t place your subjects directly in front of the sun or a light source, either. This will leave you with a silhouette that partially or totally obscures a subjects features.

Scene mode automatically sets your camera’s settings depending on a number of factors, including the amount of direct light hitting your subjects and the type of shot you are aiming for. Scene mode can turn even amateurs into professional-level photographers.

Sigma 50mm Macro Is a Great Macro and Normal Lens

As a photographer, it is necessary to know what kind of cameras and lenses are the best. Most beginner photographers do not know that just because a lens or camera is expensive, it does not necessarily mean it is the best. Most of the very over priced lenses that I have purchased back then did not have great quality compared to Nikon’s Sigma 50mm Macro that I only bought for less than half a grand online. As a professional photographer I have seen such a drastic change in my photos, not only did my picture become sharper but it is also very clear.

I have had various experiences with a lot of lenses, but nothing really compares to the quality that the Sigma 50mm Macro gives to my pictures. There are various features that come with this Sigma. The Sigma has a focusing system that works perfectly for close up photos. Even if you take a picture super close, the photo will still appear very sharp and clear, unlike other lenses in which whenever you seem to zoom in, the picture is not as clear as you wish it could be.

I have been taking head shots of people for over ten years and back then even if the picture was nice, there was still something missing. I bought the Sigma 50mm Macro because I have been told by various colleagues that this is one of the best close up lenses that they have ever tried and the lens was really one of the best lenses that I have ever tried in my life. Even though Sigma 50mm Macro is really great for taking photos close up, that does not necessarily mean that there are not any downsides. Due to the fact that the lens is really perfect for close up pictures, whenever you move away, the quality of the pictures is not as pleasant as it should be. The lens is only perfect for zooming in on small pictures; that is why as a photographer you should not just buy one particular lens.

This is why Nikon created a variety of lenses that are perfect for zooming in and zooming out on a subject, whenever you zoom out with the Sigma 50mm Macro, it will not be as clear and sharp as you would like it to be. The lens is very great when for me and it works so well because I take a lot of pictures for head shots. If I had a friend that would’ve bought me this lens ever since before, I would have had much better photos since the beginning of my photography career.

So, I bought this lens as a gift to all my close friends who are starting with their photography careers. I strongly recommend this lens to every photographer that is just beginning their careers, because in my opinion the Sigma 50mm Macro really is the best close up lens in the world. You will most definitely see a huge difference in your photos and you will see that your pictures will be very clear and sharp.

Still searching for the perfect lens? I know finding the perfect lens for your photography needs can be a tedious and arduous process. You can easily spend hours or even days searching for that perfect lens and end up with no result. What is even worse, you can buy the wrong lens and end up wasting a lot of money in the end.

That is why I created this Sigma 50mm Macro lens review to help you out.

If you don’t think this is the right lens for you, check out my Sigma 70mm Macro lens review for an alternative.

Best Accessories For Digital Camera

Article by Siong Chen

Many people commented that we can just use our digital camera to capture the best photo. However, I do not agree with this statement. We still need other accessories to help us in photo taking in order to get the best image. Therefore, I wish to share with you about 3 important digital camera accessories that we need in photo taking.

These are not listed in any particular order and I do not think in any order of value either although if you were to push me for an answer, I would place a tripod as my number one accessory. It will also rely on what kind of photography you are pursuing as to which one will be number one to you. They are, however, accessories that I would list as important to the gear bag of a photographer.

1. A tripodIf you do not already have a tripod then get yourself one. Purchase the most expensive one you can afford. A better strong tripod is crucial to the kit of a photographer. There are numerous situations when light conditions are not good and the additional stability helps you create crisp, sharp graphics. Just a little camera shake will provoke blurring to some degree in the final photo. A tripod is specifically usefulwhen shooting close-ups of flowers and small creatures and helps you to have full control of your images.

2. Remote shutter releaseThis is coupled with the tripod and is essential when avoiding camera shake. Even when your camera is mounted on the tripod, the easiest action like pushing the shutter button can still induce camera shake and prevent you from getting the sharpest images. It works very simply either connected by a cable to the camera or using an infrared connection to activate the shutter.

3. A good circular polarising filterA polarising filter cuts down glare and reflections off shiny surfaces. Those of you who have ever owned or used a pair of polaroid sunglasses will understand the outcome that it has on shiny and reflective surfaces. This includes foliage as well. When using polaroid sunglasses while looking at water you are able to see below the surface if the water is clear. The sky becomes bluer and the green vegetation greener. If you are landscape photographer you will really benefit from a polariser. I believe this essential. One tip though is that you should always use one that has the equivalent or higher quality of your lens. There is no point in putting bad glass in front of good glass.

In summary, if you are not afford to buy all three important accessories for digital camera that I stated above, you may choose one of them first. However, I will try to get all three to help me in getting the good quality photo. Wish you all the best for your photo taking.
